Appeal Court Stops Execution Of Judgment Freeing Nnamdi Kanu

The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Friday granted an application for a stay of execution of its own judgment which had discharged the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra Nnamdi Kanu of all terrorism charges preferred against him by the Federal Government on grounds of his extraordinary rendition from Kenya to Nigeria.

Justice Haruna Tsammani in a ruling granted the application of the Federal Government and ordered that the execution of the judgment be put on hold.

The Federal Government had applied that the execution of the judgment be suspended pending the resolution of its appeal lodged at the Supreme Court.

Justice Tsammani held that the counter affidavit filed against the Federal Government’s application by Kanu’s legal team was misleading.
