‘Ignore The Mad Man El-Rufai’ – CAN Chairman

The Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in Kaduna State, Rev John Joseph Hayab has urged Nigerians to ignore the former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai over his inciting claim that  the Muslim/Muslim governorship ticket in the state will be sustained beyond 20 years, by the grace of God.

He gave the advice while speaking on Arise TV’s morning show on Wednesday, calling the former governor “a mad man.”

The cleric was reacting to statements credited to El-Rufai, who was recently caught in a video boasting before a group of Islamic Scholars that the Muslim/Muslim governorship ticket in the state will be sustained beyond 20 years, by the grace of God.

Hayab said El-Rufai was only pushing how own personal agenda and not speaking for the Kaduna and Nigerian Muslims.

“El-Rufai is not speaking for faith. We will not fight Muslims, we will not accuse Muslims, because we know El-Rufai is not speaking for them and we know Muslim will not think that way. We want a united Nigeria. We want a Nigeria that whoever we have given mandate to lead will lead us as a people,” the Kaduna State CAN Chairman said.

He accused El- Rufai, who according to him has no respect for Islam, of using religion to advance his selfish ambitions.

“Unfortunately, in Nigeria, we don’t check the emotional and psychaitric state of the people we entrust with power,” he said.

According to him, El Rufai is not fit to be in government, noting that he needs to examine himself in a psychiatric hospital.

“El Rufai is a selfish and a known liar,” he added.
