The Chairman of the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, said on Saturday that sensitive electoral materials will no longer be routed through the Central bank of Nigeria.
The INEC Chairman said this while answering questions in a dialogue in Abuja, noting that beginning with the Ekiti State Governorship election, INEC will not keep its sensitive materials with the CBN.
Yakubu explained that the decision is to guarantee that electoral materials for the lined up Elections are not compromised
Recall that several individuals and groups had raised serious concern over the sanctity of Elections materials kept with the CBN, in view of the partisanship of CBN governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele.
He had indicated interest to contest the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
