Atiku Beats Wike, Saraki, Others To Emerge PDP 2023 Presidential Flagbearer

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has been elected the Peoples Democratic Party’s flagbearer for the 2023 presidential election.

Mr Atiku polled 371 votes to beat his closest challenger, Wike, who got polled 237 votes.

Former senate president Bukola Saraki came third with 70 votes. While Udom Emmanuel had 38 votes, same like Bauchi governor, Mohammed (38) and former senate president Anyim Pius Anyim polled 14 votes.

It will be Atiku’s sixth attempt for the nation’s top job at 75.

He was also the PDP’s candidate in the last election in 2019, which he lost to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Before voting commenced on Saturday, at the primary election in Abuja, Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal had stepped down for Atiku, and urged delegates to vote for him.
