Arsenal are set to appoint Unai Emery as their new manager after decision makers at the North London club reportedly changed their minds about making former captain, Mikel Arteta the successor to Arsene Wenger.

Arteta, who is asstistant coach at Manchester City, had been the favourite to take over at the Emirates.

But in what looks like a dramatic U-turn, the Gunners have decided to go for Emery.

CHECKPOINTCHALEY gathered that after a thorough recruitment process that involved all candidates being spoken to, the 46-year-old emerged as the unanimous choice.

Emery had just left Paris Saint-Germaian on Saturday night after the end of the 2017/2018 season.

At PSG, he won one Ligue 1 title and four domestic cups in two seasons in charge.

Before then, while in the La Liga, he guided Sevilla to three Europa League triumphs.
