PDP To Sanction Wike, Others For Betrayal

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has vowed that the alleged betrayal of the party by the Minister of the FCT, Mr. Nyesom Wike and others during the 2023 general elections will not go unpunished.

National Organising Secretary (NOS) of the PDP, Capt. Umar Bature (Retd), made the promise on Tuesday during a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), with the 36 State Chairmen in Abuja.

He vowed to sanction party members, who engaged in anti-party activities and sabotaged the party during the elections in 2023.

Recall that Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Amb. Umar Damagum had in December 2023, vowed to wield the big stick against this category of party members.

He specifically mentioned former Rivers State Governor and now Minister of the FCT, Chief Nyesom Wike among those at risk of sanctions.

Damagum had said, “…If Wike believes he is above this party, we will be able to show him that he is not above this party.”

To realize that promise, the NOS said the party has asked state chairmen and other stakeholders to expose those involved for the National Executive Committee (NEC), to apply the necessary sanctions.

Bature said, “A lot of agitations are coming from party members, suspend this, suspend that, you are the ones that are in charge of those states.

“You are to tell us who did anti party and who did not do anti party, based on that NEC Wil take decision. Write to us and tell us what transpired, no matter what happened.

“I also want the acting Chairman to call on the Chairman of Cross River to tell us what is happening in the state, because there are so many things happening and we are hearing in the media. We really need to know what is happening.”

Former governor Wike had helped now President Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Party (APC) to “win” Rivers State in the 2023 presidential election.

For that he was later rewarded with a “lucrative” ministerial position.
