The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi says the call for his arrest for ‘treason’ by the minister of Information, Lai Mohammed “is the height of rascality.“
Obi said this on Monday night while speaking on Arise TV’s Prime Time.
“And that he went to Washington to announce it while I was in Onitsha is waste of public fund and rascality of the highest order,” he said
He added that, “The money he wasted to go there would have built at least six-block classrooms.“
On the altercation between the ‘Obidients’ and Nobel Laurette, Wole Soyinka, he said “I was saddened that there was such an exchange.”
He however, pointed out that many of the people seen as Obidients are infiltrators from other parties.
Nonetheless, he said that the Obidients are young people, who are angry over how they have been treated by the ruling class.
“I feel for them.
“Nigeria is now a place where people are thrown into jail for carrying laptops, while the people who have stolen billions are celebrated.“
The Labour Party flagbearer recalled the good life he had as a young man in Nigeria. “Everything was working.
“So we have to understand why this young people are angry.”
