
A Magistrate court in Owerri, Imo State, on Thursday, remanded the immediate past deputy governor of the state, Gerald Irona, in prison custody.
The presiding magistrate, C. N Ezerioha, after hearing the prosecution counsel and defence counsel, ordered that Irona be remanded in Owerri correctional centre.
She said that the court does not have the jurisdiction to hear the matter.
Irona was arrested from his house in Owerri at about 10:15 am on Wednesday.
No reason was given for his arrest.
