The Peoples Democratic Party, Labour Party and Action Democratic Congress, have officially called for the cancellation of the 2023 Presidential election.
The parties made the call at a world press conference held in Abuja on Tuesday, calling also for the resignation of INEC chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.
They said they have lost confidence in his leadership of the electoral body.
The National Chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu said, “All those, who are supporting us across Nigeria will get justice. Democracy may sound very expensive, it’s certainly not cheap. But if we think it’s expensive try dictatorship, you will see the cost.
“We don’t want INEC to turn itself to a dictatorship and destroy the very democracy we’ve suffered or laboured for or built the last 20 something years.”
He said, “What we are doing now is what our member want and the yearnings of Nigerians. What we are doing is also a due process.
“The cost will be high but that’s part of the sacrifices we need to make now. The cost of bad governance is higher than electing bad leaders.”
