Despite the signing of the Peace Accord by political parties, pre-electoral violence is surging as thugs, allegedly for the All Progressives Congess (APC) in Lagos, on Saturday attacked the supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi in various parts of the city, who were making their way to a Mega LP rally at the Tafawa Balewa Square.
According to various photos and videos trending on social media, thugs attacked both private and commercial vehicles conveying the supporters of the Labour Party Candidate to the venue of the rally.

“They attacked us today at Jakande in our way to TBS,” a twitter user said while sharing the video of the incident.

Sharing the pictures below, another twitter user said: “They attacked us at VGC too”

Intimidation of Labour Party supporters in Lagos has become notorious with two weeks to the Presidential elections. Obi is expected to do very well in Lagos. One poll even tipped him to win Lagos, the stronghold of APC’s Bola Tinubu.

The Lagos State Police Command also confirmed that attacks, saying no fewer than four persons were injured in an attack on Obi supporters.
According to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, investigations into the attack had commenced.
Hundeyin said the attack is regrettable, disclosing that witnesses are already helping the police with relevant information.
“The Jakande Ward Chairman of the Labour Party commendably reported an attack on his party members at Ilasan Division. Four injured persons have been given medical attention. The Divisional Police Officer, Ilasan, has commenced preliminary investigations while the State Criminal Investigation Department is to fully take over investigations.
“The injured and other witnesses are assisting the Police with relevant information that would aid the apprehension and prosecution of the attackers.
“This attack is reprehensible! It is verifiable that the Command had stationed, since yesterday, patrol vehicles and officers at the Tafawa Balewa Square venue of today’s rally. We had already secured the venue to prevent any breakdown of law and order,” Hundeyin said in a series of tweets on Saturday.
