At least 200 persons have been displaced and property worth millions of naira destroyed, following a fire outbreak in the Elekahia area in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Friday morning.
A resident told CHECKPOINTCHARLEY that the fire, which started at about 8:20 am, was caused by a kerosene explosion.
According to him, most of the affected residents had travelled for the Christmas.
An official of the Federal Fire Service, John Nnemeka, said that his men had arrived early but were unable to access the scene because of the cramping of houses in the area.
