The national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu, says the party’s presidential candidate Bola Tinubu will be elected to lead Nigeria in 2023 because according to him President Muhammadu Buhari, who is “the highest authority in Nigeria today” has said so.
This was contained in a statement on Thursday by Bayo Onanuga, the Media Director, APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).
Adamu made the worrying pronouncement at a town hall meeting in Lafia, the Nasarawa capital between Tinubu and stakeholders in the mining sector.
His statement however is in conflict with the assurances President Buhari had repeatedly given Nigerians that the 2023 elections will be free and fair.
Adamu told the Lafia gathering that he was merely echoing what President Muhammadu Buhari’s had said.
“Except God, President Buhari is the highest authority in Nigeria today. Buhari has said it and it shall come to pass,” the APC chairman was quoted as saying.
“Adamu urged voters not only in Nasarawa, but also in the adjoining states to vote massively for the party and its candidate,” the statement added.
Adamu called on Tinubu to get ready to shoulder the responsibilities of the President.
