Wike Present As Buhari Inaugurates Body Of Benchers Complex In Abuja

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, who has been at loggerheads with his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, was among other dignitaries present on Thursday when President Muhammadu Buhari inaugurated a new complex for the Body of Benchers in Abuja.

The Chairman of the Body Of Benchers, Wole Olanipekun (SAN), said the Rivers State Government under the leadership of Wike donated N500m to the construction of the edifice.

Also present at the event include the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola; the Attorney-General of the Federation, and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN); amongst others.

Recall that there were rumours that Mr. Wike was planning to join the ruling All Progressives Congress. But the combative Rivers governor had denied it, vowing to stay in the PDP and fight for what is right.

Wike has been pushing for the resignation of PDP chairman Iyorchia Ayu since he was defeated in the party’s presidential primary, which was won by former vice president Atiku Abubakar.

He accused Ayu of manipulating the process in favour of the eventual winner.

The Rivers governor and members of his camp had stayed away from Wednesday’s inauguration of Atiku’s campaign council in Abuja.
