Strongman Wike Departs Again For Europe, Leaves PDP Guessing After Alleging N1bn bribe And Betrayal By Chairman Ayu

Strongman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers has again travelled to Europe, leaving the PDP guessing his next political move after alleging N1billion bribe and betrayal by party chairman Iyorchia Ayu.

Wike had in a media chat on Friday accused Ayu of manipulating the party’s presidential primary in favour of the eventual winner, Mr. Atiku Abubakar.

His destination in Europe is still not yet clear, but a source told CHECKPOINTCHARLEY that the aggrieved governor, who had uncompromisingly called for Ayu’s resignation, may have headed to London in the United Kingdom.

Wike had jetted out in a chattered flight from the Port Harcourt International Airport at about midnight on Friday.

Recall that Mr. Wike and some members of his camp were in August in the UK, where they had met with former president Olusegun Obasanjo and the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party Peter Obi and that of the All Progressives Congress Bola Tinubu.

The Rivers governor had during Friday’s media parley revealed that Mr. Tinubu of the APC had offered him a Senatorial ticket during their meeting in London.

However, Wike this week swore that he will never leave the PDP for any body, vowing to stay in the party and fight to finish for what is right. He also dared the party executives to suspend him and see what the consequences would be.

The source confirmed to CHECKPOINTCHARLEY that Mr. Wike would be back in the country next week. Though he declined to reveal what his mission in London is.
