
The police in Benue have confirmed the killing of three people in Ngban community in the Guma Local Government Area, the hometown of the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, by suspected herdsmen.
Residents said the incident happened around 4pm on Sunday, when suspected herders invaded the Ngbea area under Nyiev council ward of the Guma LGA.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, “Three persons were killed in an attack at Guma. The corpses have been taken to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi, while investigation is ongoing.”
At least, 13 people have been killed at Tse Numgbera, Umella, Yogbo and Ukohol communities all in Guma LGA by suspected herdsmen in the last three weeks.
