Coco Gauff Beats Shuai Zhang To Advance To US Open Quater-Final

Coco Cauff, the heir apparent to the Tennis Queen crown, has with a mixture of coolness, emotions, athletism and quality tennis, defeated Shuai Zhang of China 7-5, 7-5 to qualify for US Open Women Quarter-Final.

The 18-year-old American, who  went into the match as favourite, had to dig deep to subdue Zhang in a keenly contested match.

Zhang played really well and had her chances but overall Gauff made the big points when it mattered.

The Chinese had jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but Guaff, one of the best defensive players on the women’s tour fought back to take the first set.

The case was the same in the second set, with Zhang serving for the set at 5-3, but Gauff broke her serve. At 5-5, the Chinese player lost her serve again to the American teenager. That gave Gauff a 6-5 lead and from that point  there was no stopping her from crusing into the quarterfinal, as she stayed cool and took the matchball.

She will now face Caroline Garcia of France in the Quarter-final.
