The terrorists who abducted paasengers aboard an Abuja-Kaduna train on March 28 have released five more of the hostages.
A member of the negotiating team, Tukur Mamu disclosed this, saying the victims were released on Tuesday, August 2nd.
He gave the names of those released as Professor Mustapha Umar Imam, who is medical at Usman Dan Fodio University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto, Akibu Lawal, Abubakar Ahmed Rufai Mukthar Shu’aibu and Sidi Aminu Sharif.
According to Mamu, he played a major role in the release of the train victims, but said he backed out due to threats to his life, personal integrity and lack of support from the Federal Government.
With this a total of 27 victims have regained their freedom, leaving 35 still in captivity.
It is however not clear if ransom was paid for the release of the latest five.
Their release comes few days after three other victims were freed by the terrorists.
Recall that terrorists had on March 28 blown up the rail track, killing some and abducting scores of passengers.
