The Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu, has said that Christians in Nigeria have no cause to worry over the widely speculated alleged plan of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, to field a Muslim as his running mate.
Addressing journalists at the National Assembly on Wednesday, the former Abia State governor said Christians would be protected because Tinubu’s wife is a Pastor.
There have been reactions across board over the Muslim-Muslim ticket in the 2023 presidential election.
The Christian Association of Nigeria rejected the ruling party’s move to field a Muslim running mate.
Reacting to the speculations, Kalu said the speculated Muslim-Muslim ticket should not threaten Christians.
Kalu said: “Let me tell you, in my house, my wife is the head of the house in reality. Even you men that are here, now that your wives aren’t here, they are the head.
“Like if I wear these clothes, my wife will tell me ‘My dear, these clothe is not good remove them’. Your wife will tell you you are supposed to eat Akara and Akamu, whether you argue with her, you must take that Akamu and your wife want you to pay children’s school fees, whether you argue or not, you must pay.
“The Christians should relax because Tinubu’s wife is a pastor and once she’s a pastor we are protected because she’s not a housewife. She has political knowledge.”
