APC Chairman Announces Senate President Ahmed Lawan As Party’s Consensus Candidate

All Progressives Congress National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu has announced Senate President Ahmed Lawan as the party’s consensus candidate.

Adamu said this at the meeting of APC National Working Committee on Monday as the party begins its presidential primary election in the nation’s capital, Abuja.

He told the National Working Committee that he made the choice of the Senate President after consultation with President Muhammadu Buhari.

However, CHECKPOINTCHARLEY gathered that other presidential aspirants including Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Engr. David Umahi would be allowed to participate in the election despite consensus.

IHowever, it was learnt that the members of the NWC kicked against the decision, leading to a division among them.

It is reported that President Buhari denied anointing any presidential candidate in a meeting with Northern governors on Monday.

According to Simon Lalong of Plateau State, the President clarified that he has no consensus candidate for now.
