First Son Of Ex-Senate President Evan Enwerem Contesting Imo Assembly Seat Outlines People Empowerment Schemes

Chief Miguel Amobi Enwerem, first son of late Senate President, Chief Evan Enwerem, who is treading the path his father had walked, may go farther with the development and youth empowerment projects he intends to bring to his constituency if he wins the Ikeduru seat in the Imo State House of Assembly in 2023.

In a chat with CHECKPOINTCHARLEY on Wednesday, Enwerem Jnr, who is also the Ogbuhuruzo II, said his sole aim of contesting is to serve his people by contributing in their development, especially in the empowerment of the teeming youths, which he said has become crucial in order secure the future.

“Our people have suffered for too long in the midst of plenty,” he said. “And the time to address it is now.”

He said one of the things he would do is to attract one industry from Portugal and also donate the family shoe factory in Atta to the people, “so that youths could work and learn skills there.”

Chief Enwerem, who is seeking the Peoples Democratic Party ticket for Ikeduru, also promised to sponsor, yearly, three graduates to attend flight schools abroad, adding that he would also arrange student visas and business visas to Portugal for 20 qualified people in his first term as legislator.

“I would also take three best secondary students in sciences to Group 7 Flight school in Lisbon, owned by my friend Luis Leavia.

“These apart, I also intend to bring NGOs from Portugal to Ikeduru in the fields of Health, Education, Skill acquisition, and also help arrange film workshops to 30 students every year, superitended by myself, in the areas of Camera, Lighting, Editing and Script writing,” he vowed.

In the area of Sports, Enwerem promised to build a Sports center for the youths, with 7-a-side football field, Tennis Court, Basket ball field and two table tennis tables.

“We want to banish the days when people walk through the corridors of power, on the people’s mandate, without impacting on their lives,” Enwerem, who is known for his compassion for the less-privileged, said.

Chief Enwerem, who had worked as a producer for Portuguese Television, is now a businessman
and CEO of Radarmalibu Entertainment, a Lagos and Lisbon based Film producing company.

He is one of the frontrunners for the Ikeduru PDP ticket.
