2023: Chaos Looms In PDP As Atiku, Saraki Undergo Screening For Presidential Ticket

Atiku Abubakar and Bukola Saraki, former vice president and former senate president respectively, on Friday took steps that may throw the opposition party into turmoil as they finally disregarded the need to zone the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential ticket to the South, undergoing screening as aspirants vying for the PDP presidential ticket at Legacy House, Abuja, the alternate National Secretariat of the party.

The screening began at about 11:00 am and CHECKPOINTCHARLEY gathhered that so far, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Senate Presidents Bukola Saraki, and Pius Anyim, have appeared for the exercise.

The exercise, which is happening behind closed doors, is headed by the former Senate President David Mark.

The three aspirants have been screened but did not disclose the outcome of the exercise as it affects their candidacy, as at the time of filing this report.

However, Anyim told journalists that the process is a simple one. He said the panel is simply verifying their membership status, financial status, academic credentials, and other requirements for a presidential candidate as stated in the constitution.

Yet to be screened are former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike amongst other aspirants.
