The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a bail application brought by an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Bawa James, who is a co-defendant in the drug trafficking case preferred against suspended DCP Abba Kyari and others.
Justice Emeka Nwite turned down the application, holding that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has succeeded in proving its argument beyond doubt why the court should not grant the defendant bail.
The judge agreed with the argument of counsel for NDLEA, Joseph Sunday, that James is a flight risk and might jump bail.
The court also gave the NDLEA, the go-ahead, to review the facts of the case.
