Gov Diri’s SSA Asks Man O’ War To Help In The Fight Against Crime

The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the governor on Tourism, Mr. Piriye Kiyaramo has urged state command of the Man O’ War Nigeria to redouble its intelligence gathering efforts at the grassroots to complement the efforts of security agencies in crime fighting.

Mr Kiyaramo who stated this while addressing officers and and men of the Bayelsa State Command of Man O’ War Nigeria in Yenagoa at the weekend, emphasised the need to inculcate citizenship and leadership education among the youth to promote patriotism. 

He said: “when we combine the security factor with the marketing of the image of Bayelsa as an emerging destination, there will be increase in tourism demand, as well as economic and social development.”

The governor’s aide on Tourism commended the Man O’ War national command in Abuja for its role in stabilising the Bayelsa State Command, adding that Man O’ War Nigeria has gone further to take additional security measures to stem the rising tide of insecurity across the country in recent times. 

Also speaking, a security expert and Special Assistant (SA) to the governor on Special Duties, Hon. Henry Bazigha, advised the state command to close rants with the security agencies at the community level through proper intelligence sharing to complement the efforts of the security agencies. 

Earlier, Acting Commander of the Bayelsa State Command of the Man O’ War Nigeria, Dep. Commander, Topman Otonye had briefed the command of his appointment as Acting State Commander, informing that his mandate is to resolve all lingering issues and nominate appropriate officers within six months to the National Command for inauguration. 

Former State Commanders, Mr Wilson A. Tonye, Alfred Tunde Yoyo, Victor I Lawerence, in their separate remarks enjoined the state command to cooperate with the Acting State Commander to move the command forward by reconciling all differences preparatory to the emergence of a substantive state executive council in the next six months. 

High point of the meeting was the nomination of six officers to be part of the committee to assist the Acting State Commander to oversee the affairs of the command for the next six months. Those nominated include: Dep. Topman Otonye  Acting State Commander, Statesman Dr. Stephen Ogbere, Ayah Ebi Tari, Battle Oyinkuro James, Clement Ogboin, Ebibokefei Samuel and Timi Shidwick.

It would be recalled that since inception, the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre which is parent organisation of Man O’ War Nigeria, has successfully trained many participants most of whom are past Head of States, past Military Governors and Administrators, past and present Civilian Governors and their Deputies, Inspector General of Police, Ministers and Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries and Director Generals.
