The newly sworn-in Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, says the state of economy handed over to him by detained former governor Willie Obiano is in a “bad shape”.
Prof. Soludo raised the alarm while speaking during Arise TV Morning show on Tuesday, disclosing that Mr. Willie Obiano, left only the sum of between N300 and N400 million in the state coffers.
The former governor of the Central Bank noted that he inherited a whopping debt running to hundreds of billions of naira, from his predecessor.
He bemoaned the sad development, saying the state is in dire need of restoration.
Mr. Obiano is currently in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes, despite bring granted his bail, according to the EFCC chairman, who said on Monday that the former governor was yet to perfect his bail.
The anti-graft agency had arrested him on Thursday, March 17, at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, few hours after his handover ceremony.
He is accused of mismanaging N42billions belonging to Anambra people.
