Sarauniya Ganye Of Adamawa Delivers Queen Elizabeth’s Message At 2022 Commonwealth Day

The Sarauniya Ganye Chiefdom, Adamawa state, Hon. Patricia Seubittere Yakubu on Monday delivered the Queen of England’s message at the Commonwealth Day in Abuja.

At the event held at the Merit House Maitama in the Federal Capital of Nigeria, Hon. Yakubu re-echoed Queen Elizabeth’s commitment to service and the promise she made in 1947 when she said that her life will always be devoted to service.

According to her, the Queen said it’s rewarding to observe “a modern, vibrant, and connected commonwealth that combined wealth of history and tradition with the great social, cultural and technological advances of our time.”

That the Commonwealth stands ever taller is a credit to all those who have been involved, she noted

Hon. Yakubu, a former commissioner of Agriculture in Adamawa State, added that the Queen Elizabeth reminds Nigerians that “we are nourished and sustained by our relationship.”

The Queen’s message read in part, “Throughout my life, I have enjoyed the privilege of hearing what the relationship built across the great reach and diversity of the Commonwealth have meant to people and communities.

”Our family of nations continues to be a point of connection, cooperation, and friendship. It is a place to come together, to pursue common goals and the common good, providing everyone with the opportunity to serve and benefit.

“In these testing times, I hope that you can draw strength and inspiration from what we share, as we work together toward a healthy, sustainable, and prosperous future for all.”

Mrs. Yakubu further conveyed the passionate call of the Queen to prepare for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting billed for Kigali, Rwanda in June.

The Commonwealth Day had Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as the Special Guest of Honour.

Part of the highlights of the Day included an inter-tertiary school Debate Championship.
