The Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, has appealed the Federal High Court judgement that sacked him and his deputy, Dr Eric Kelechi Igwe, from office.
In the appeal, marked Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/920/2021, Umahi averred that the Federal High Court erred when it said it had “not seen any authority which propounds that where Governor or Deputy Governor defects his political party on which platform he was elected into office, he cannot be sued by that political party to reclaim its mandate.”
The appeal comes less than 24 hours after the high court sacked them from office and was brought to the appellate court on their behalf by Chukwuma Machukwu Umeh SAN.
In the notice of appeal, Umahi and his deputy particularly asked the Court of Appeal to allow their appeal and set aside the decision of the high court, noting that the lower court judgment was too harsh on them.
