The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, has reassured his people that “I am here. We are not putting down arms. We will be defending our country, because our weapon is truth, and our truth is that this is our land, our country, our children, and we will defend all of this.”
He said this in a tweet posted to Twitter on Saturday morning, hinting that partners are sending weapons to support the Ukrainian forces against the Russian troops.
In another tweet Zelensky said he had spoken with French President Emmanuel Macron, and “Weapons and equipment from our partners are on the way to Ukraine.
“The anti-war coalition is working!” he wrote.
