Armed bandits on Sunday attacked travellers on the now dangerous Abuja-Kaduna highway, killing a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sagir Hamidu.
Hamidu was a former director of Protocol in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and had contested the last Zamfara State governorship election.
It is gathered that he died from bullets wounds as the bandits shot sporadically during the attack.
Many others were injured.
The bandits reportedly abducted many travellers.
The police are yet to confirm the incident but videos of the attack are trending on internet.
