Former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Charles Soludo, has been attacked by gunmen, who killed three policemen attached him.
The incident happened in his community, Isuofia, in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State during a meeting with the youths of the community.
Eyewitnesses say Soludo is safe, however his whereabouts remain unknown.
The Commissioner for Public Utilities, Emeka Ezenwanne, who was at the event was said to have been taken away by the gunmen. CHECKPOINTCHARLEY is yet to confirm this.
Police spokesperson in Anambra, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the incident, saying the police is still gathering information.
Mr. Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, is a frontline aspirant in the November 6 Anambara governorship poll election.
