At least eight members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) have been abducted by armed bandits in Kaduna State.
The gunmen reportedly abducted the church members on Friday evening along the Kachia Road in the southern part of the state.
The leader of the men’s fellowship of the church in the province, Elder Adaji, confirmed the incident to the press.
According to him, the victims were on their way to Kachia for an evangelical outreach programme before their bus was ambushed by the bandits.
The bandits stopped the bus conveying the persons and immediately transferred the eight passengers to their vehicle, and sped off to an unknown hideout.
The bus in which the victims were travelling with, was said to have been abandoned on the road.
The spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, Mohammed Jalige, said the police had yet to confirm the incident.
This comes as efforts are being intensified to rescue 39 students of Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation Afaka, who were also abducted by bandits from their hostels.
As at the time of filing this report the students have spent 16 days in captivity.
