Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has threatened that Nigeria will be no more if his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom, is assassinated.
Mr. Wike issued the warning in a statement on Saturdau, saying president General Muhammadu Buhari and his All Progressives Congress would be held responsible if Ortom is killed.
The governor was reacting to a failed attempt by gunmen to kill Ortom earlier on Saturday.
Mr. Ortom had said that armed herdsmen had trailed him to a river bank in Tyo Mu along Makurdi-Gboko Road in the Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State.
Wike, in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Kelvin Ebiri, said, “If you kill Ortom, then be prepared to bury Nigeria,” stated that it is disturbing, the growing trend where the life of incumbent governors are brazenly threatened.
he alleged that the former General Officer Commanding 6 Division of the Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt, Major General Jamil Sarham, and some APC chieftains had concluded plan to assassinate him during the 2019 general election.
