Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been fined two weeks’ wages by Napoli for partying in his native Nigeria without a face mask, thereby flouting the club’s COVID-19 regulations.
Napoli announced on Friday that Osimhen contracted coronavirus while holidaying in Nigeria.
A video of the former Lille striker posted on Instagram by @equipoarrow where he was seen partying without a face mask and his not observing social distancing reportedly made coach Gennaro Gattuso furious.
In the video, Osimhen was also seen spraying N500 notes on a local musician.
“Victor Osimhen will be fined for not respecting the club’s regulations.
“The birthday videos showing people without face masks and not social distancing has angered the club and Gattuso,” a tweet from SCC Napoli read.
Osimhen, who joined Napoli in the summer for a record fee from Lille, has scored twice in six games for the club.
Napoli had paid French club Lille a club record fee of up to 80 million euros ($94.6 million) to bring the forward to southern Italy on a five-year deal last summer.
