The Auxiliary Bishop of Owerri Archdiocese, Mose Chikwe, and some other kidnapped victims have been rescued by officers of the Nigeria police, Force Spokesman in Imo, Orlando Ikeokwu, said on Friday.
He said Chikwe was rescued in a sting operation by men of the Imo State Police Command.
Ikeokwu added that no ransom was paid.
The Bishop was abducted on Sunday night, along with his driver, at the World Bank area of Owerri, the Imo State capital.
Hours before he was freed, the Arch Bishop of Owerri, Victor Obinna had announced that he has spoken with Bishop Chikwe, thus confirming he is alive amid rumours that he may have been killed.
The Arch Bishop had said he appreciated Nigerians for their concern and prayers, while charging them to remain steadfast in prayers.
