
A mob on Wednesday set ablaze a police station in Igboukwu in the Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State over the killing of a motorcycle operator by police officers.
Eyewitnesses said police officers on duty in the area allegedly shot and killed a commercial motorcyclist on Tuesday night over bribe.
Irked by the killing of their colleague, commercial motorcycle operators attacked the police station, setting it ablaze.
Haruna Mohammed, the police spokesperson in the state, confirmed the incident.
He said that the Commissioner of Police, John Abang has also ordered the detention of policemen involved, adding that investigation is ongoing.
