Killings In Southern Kaduna Must Stop, Says Mailafia Despite DSS Intimidation

Despite what he sees as intimidation by the Department of State service, DSS, former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr Obadiah Mailafia, said on Monday after he was released by the agency that the killings in Southern Kaduna must stop.

Mailafia had been invited by the DSS to appear at its office in Jos on Monday for the third time following his recent comment during a radio interview that one of the Northern governors is one of Boko Haram’s commanders.

The former CBN governor had last week alerted the nation that powerful forces in the country are out to silence him for speaking the truth.

Dozens of his supporters had stormed the DSS Jos office to witness the grilling of the ex-CBN top official.

The supporters, who chanted solidarity songs were, however, prevented from entering the premises.

Mailafia arrived at the DSS office around eleven in the morning, with his wife, Margaret, his lawyer, Yakubu Bawa, and several clergymen.

He was however later released at about 3.00 pm.

Speaking after his release, Mailafia condemned his latest invitation by the DSS, describing it as uncalled for.

He said, “Thank you all for being here. Many have said the worst things and nobody invited them. I hope this will be the last time I will be invited to the DSS office. All that I am saying is that the killings must stop.”
