Sept 19 Gov Election Is Between Me And Oshiomhole – Obaseki

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has said that the September 19 governorship election is a contest between him and Adams Oshiomhole and not with his challenger, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, boasting that he will bury the former chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, politically.

The governor said this at a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rally in Oredo local government area of the state on Saturday.

Mr. Obaseki, who is the candidate of the PDP in the election, crowed that Oshiomhole, his predecessor and one time benefactor, will be crushed during the election because he doesn’t respect people of the state.

He said, “As a sitting governor, Oshiomhole decides to pick who will represent me in my house of assembly. Can you imagine the insult? That was where this fight started.

“Because he believes, in his own mind, that Benin people are like chickens. When you throw corn, they will run after the corn.

“This election is a contest with Oshiomhole. We have dealt with him at the national level, we will bury him politically in this election; because he has no regard for Benin people, he has no regard for us in Oredo, and we will show him that he is nothing.”

Mr. Oshiomhole is backing Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the APC candidate in the election.
