The United States has terminated its relationship with the World Health Organisation (WHO).
President Donald Trump announced this in a press conference at the White House, amid the COVID-19 pandemic and civil unrest in Minneapolis.
Trump accused WHO of failing to do enough to combat the initial spread of coronavirus.
The US president had first suspended funding to the UN agency a month ago, accusing it of mismanaging its handling of the global pandemic.
Also ten days ago, he said WHO is a “puppet” of China, threatening that funding freeze would become permanent unless it made “substantive improvements”.
“Because they have failed to make the requested and greatly needed reforms, we will be today terminating our relationship with the World Health Organization,” Trump told reporters.
