Unlike, the late Abba Kyari, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, the new chief of staff to the president, is a former United Nations scribe and a former minister of external affairs, steep in diplomacy and rapprochement. Is he now helping to reconcile former minister of defence, Theophilus Danjuma and President Muhammadu after the bad blood generated before and after the 2019 general election?
Danjuma was received at he presidential villa on Monday by Prof. Gambari, after which he met with the president.
This is the first meeting between the duo since they criticised each other in the buildup to the 2019 elections.
Danjuma had asked Nigerians to rise up and defend themselves because the government could no longer protect them.
The former chief of army staff also said Nigerians had lost confidence in the military.
After the elections, Danjuma also said the country is in a big hole and that if he said what he knew, people would no longer sleep.
Buhari had responded, saying Danjuma’s opinion was not as important as that of millions of Nigerians who reelected him.
