Gunmen have reportedly killed 11 people in Kaduna notwithstanding the curfew imposed by the state government to slow the spread of coronavirus.
Spokesman of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), Luka Binniyat, said in a statement of Tuesday that the killings took place in Guruku ward, Kuduru village in Chikun local government area and Jagindi in Jema’a local government area.
He said the district head of Jagidi, Danlami Barde, and his brother, Musa were among those killed when the gunmen attacked on Monday.
According to him, six others were killed in Guruku on Tuesday when the gunmen struck.
Binniyat added that three people were killed in Kuduru and their attackers set houses on fire and looted valuables.
With some wounded, Hassana Bala, Jamilu Hassan and Halima Bala were listed as those killed.
The Union asked the federal and Kaduna governments to look into the killings and also help the affected communities with relief materials.
The Kaduna Police Command was yet to comment on the killings as at the time of filing this report.
