Mr. Jasper Ndubuaku, Senior Special Assistant to governor Emeka Ihedioha on security was on Thursday morning attacked by thugs, suspected to be loyal to immediate past governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha.
A close confidant of Mr. Ndubuaku told CHECKPOINTCHARLEY that the incident happened around Spibat Owerri, where he had gone to inspect one of Mr. Okorocha`s property, alleged to have been acquired with public funds.
Ndubuaku also doubles as the chairman, Imo State Property Recovery Committee.
The thugs reportedly beat him, tore his clothes and pushed him into a gutter.
“His saving grace were men of the Nigerian police, who rescued him and took him away,” the confidant said.
“He just left my house.”
It is however understood that Ndubuaku did not sustain serious injuries.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Rabiu Ladodo, and Secretary to the State Government, Mr Uche Onyeaguocha later confirmed the incident to newsmen at a joint news briefing in Owerri.
They announced that a citizen’s arrest had been declared on Okorocha over the incident.
