Epe residents on Tuesday morning protested as operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC attempted to raid the Epe-Lagos residence of ex-Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
It is understood that Mr. Ambode is out of the country.
But a clip posted on Twitter by one Coldblooded shows people surrounding an EFCC minibus and a white pickup truck with armed personnel parked in front of Ambode’s Epe residence.
The EFCC operatives were prevented from opening the doors of their vehicles, as of the residents can be heard shouting in Yoruba, “Burst their tyres.”
The EFCC operatives were forced to drive away, shooting into the air to scare away the protesters.
Nevertheless, the back windshield of the bus appears to have been shattered.
It is yet unclear if anyone was wounded.
Coldblooded had twitted: How could the EFCC of Nigeria be shooting gun horizontacally to scare people at Epe. Please leave Ambode for us, he served us well. He left the post, and yet people are after him, threatening to kill people of Epe. I almost got shot today when trying to cross the road. #Buhari
However, the EFCC alleges that Ambode is under investigation for corruption.
