Operatives of the Economic and Financiall Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday morning raided the Epe-Lagos residence of the immediate past Lagos State governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
The raid is part of an ongoing corruption investigation as EFCC spokesperson, Tony Orilade, confirmed that Mr Ambode is under a corruption probe, weeks after he left office.
The residence of the former governor’s chief of staff in the same Epe neighbourhood was also searched.
It is alleged that billions of naira were misappropriated in the four years of Ambode’s governorship.
Recall that recently, multiple bank accounts holding billions and linked to Mr Ambode were frozen as part of the investigation.
Mr Ambode however denied any wrongdoing and links to the accounts.
