Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), is reportedly on his way back to Nigeria, three days after going to India on a medical trip.
The decision of the IMN leader to head back to Nigeria was said to have been caused by lack of breakthrough in the impasse that hindered his treatment in India.
He departed New Delhi in a commercial airline at 5pm Nigerian time, according to a message sent through his office.
A top member of of Islamic Human Right Commission (IHRC) which negotiated the medical treatment in India said that the Nigerian government’s interference and scuttling of the whole process rather than supervision as ordered by the court was the direct cause of the impasse.
The FG had refuted El-Zakzaky’s allegations, saying he attempted to violate the conditions of his treatment by making unreasonable demands, including demanding being lodged in a five-star hotel in New Delhi.
