The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, will today depart the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, to India for medical treatment.
El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat arrived at the airport Monday afternoon in preparation for their flight to Medenta Hospital, New Delhi, India.
The IMN Spokesman, Ibrahim Musa, confirmed this Monday afternoon.
The couple would be travelling on a privately chartered aircraft.
This development follows the order of the Kaduna State High court granting El-Zakzaky and his wife permission to undergo treatment at an Indian hospital of their choice.
The court had ordered the the Department of State Services, DSS, to release them so that they can go for treatment and return for the continuation of their trial after their discharge from the hospital.
They had been in DSS custody since over three years, despite multiple court orders granting them bail.
