Landlord, Pregnant Daughter Among 14 Killed In Jos Building Collapse


The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed that 14 people died as a result of the three-storey building which collapsed on Monday in Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau state.

Nurudeen Musa, head, search and rescue operations at the north-central office of NEMA, disclosed this on Tuesday, saying four people also sustained injuries.

The landlord, Rufai Kabiru and his pregnant daughter are said to be among the victims.

Those injured are currently receiving treatment at the Plateau Specialist Hospital and Bingham University Teaching Hospital, he said.

The building had housed a pharmacy and a public toilet.

Musa added that a joint rescue operation is being carried out by a joint team from NEMA, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the International Red Cross and security agencies.
