Akpabio Wanted To Deliver Akwa Ibom To Buhari But Thrown Out Of Senate By PDP

Godswill Akpabio had boasted that he will deliver his state Akwa Ibom to President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) but it has turned out that he could not even secure his seat in the Senate and will not be returning to the Red Chamber to represent Akwa Ibom north-west senatorial district.

Mr. Akpabio, who contested under his new party, APC lost to Chris Ekpenyong of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with a wide margin of 136,373 to 67,487 votes in favour of the PDP candidate.

Akpabio’s defeat has now revealed that he does not have the massive influence in his state as widely believed.

The former Akwa Ibom State governor had resigned his position as the senate minority leader and joined the APC with a large number of supporters from the PDP.
