The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rubbished rumours on Social Media, saying the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, never offered the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Adamawa State, Kashim Gaidam, $1m or a house in Dubai.
INEC said this in a Facebook post, debunking social media rumours.
“The Adamawa INEC REC completely dissociates himself from the allegation that he had an offer of $1m and a house in Dubai as no offer whatsoever was ever made to him by anyone,” INEC wrote.
Meanwhile Mr. Gaidam has threatened to sue those behind the news.
The INEC REC made it clear that he has never met Atiku in his life.
He said, “I’ve never had any contact with Atiku all my life. I can state without fear of contradiction that Atiku probably does not know how I look, because I’ve never met him personally, all my life. I was shocked to read what was credited to me by some unscrupulous persons.”
