The British government has informed the Federal Government of Nigeria about its plan to issue travel document to the the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, who is also a British citizen.
This was leaked to the press on Tuesday by a top government official who did not want his name mentioned.
According to the source, in informing the Federal Government of their intention, the British authorities said they have the best intentions towards Nigeria.
He said, “The British authorities have briefed the Nigerian government about the temporary travel documents they are about to issue to Nnamdi Kanu, who holds a Nigeria-UK dual citizenship.
“It shows that they have the best intentions towards the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Kanu, who was last seen on 14 September, 2017 when troops of Nigerian Army invaded his Afara Ukwu country home, allegedly killing 28 people, resurfaced last Friday in Jerusalem, Israel. He was seen in a video uploaded on Youtube praying at the Wailing Wall.
He held a world press broadcast last Sunday from Jerusalem, recounting what happened during that miliatry invasion, saying that he will be coming back to “Bifaraland”.
The IPOB leader also said that he will not be going back to Justice Binta Nyako’s court, where he had been on trial for offences bordering on treason.
It is understood that the issuance of travel document will enable Mr. Kanu, who has been in hiding travel.
