Photos taken on Saturday, September 8, have exposed the hazardous living conditions in Owerri, Imo State capital, which was once the cleaniest city in Nigeria but now probably the dirtiest under the watch of Governor Rochas Okorocha.
In normal climes, with what is seen on those photos, Owerri would have been declared a disaster area, unfit for human habitation.
Many people say that such is the legacy of Mr. Okorocha after eight years as governor of once a vibrant state.
Mr. Okorocha is a close ally of President Muhammadu Buhari and he has not hidden his intention of taking over from him as president in 2023, when, all things being equal, the Igbos are expected to produce the next president.
