Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have laid siege on the National Assembly.
Over a dozen mobile police officers could be seen taking position at the entry of the country’s legislature as early as 7:40am, Daily Post reported.
Staff are reportedly groaning over the development as they are not being allowed into the premises.
According to the newspaper, there is confusion and gridlock at the entrance of the country’s legislature.
The development is alleged to be part of the plot to effect a change of the Senate leadership.
Premium Times had scooped that some 30 pro-Buhari Senators had a meeting overnight with the director general of the SSS, Lawan Daura, to plot the impeachment.
Reliable sources told the newspaper that the senators have planned to elect the senate leader, Ahmed Lawan, as Senate President and Hope Uzodinma as his deputy.
The Senate President Bukola Saraki was scheduled to meet with principal officers of the National Assemby today at 12pm.
